Saturday Work - 11/14/20

The project will be working on the site this Saturday 11/14/20.  Activities will consist of completing an area of exterior sheathing and interior lay-out activities on the second floor of the building.  The work crew will be utilizing man-lifts and power tools (drills and saws) to support the work activities through out the day.  The team has coordinated with the crew to have the exterior sheathing activity and use of a man-lift to occur mid-morning in lieu of 8AM.   

The allowable work hours for Saturday is 8AM – 5PM.  

This Saturday work schedule has been communicated and coordinated with both the Marblehead Building Department & Police Department.

Early Morning Equipment Departure - November 13, 2020

The site contractor is scheduled to remove a piece of equipment from the project on Friday morning 11/13.  Due to the size of the equipment it needs to be off the road prior to 5:00AM.

As completed with similar events the equipment & trailer will be loaded in advance on Thursday 11/12 and will be parked at Gate C of the project site; adjacent to Dartmouth Road. 

Transport personnel & truck will be onsite on or about 4:00AM to hook-up to the trailer for transport.  The transport truck will enter the project site via Gate C, hook-up to the trailer and exit the same way to West Shore Drive to Route 114.  The truck’s lights and back-up alarm will be turned off in an effort to minimize any disruption to the neighborhood. 

This morning equipment departure has been communicated and coordinated with the Marblehead Police Department. 

Project Update - Week of November 9th 2020

Please see below project update for the Marblehead Elementary School:

  • Continue & complete with backfill activites of the building retaining wall on the North end of the project site.  The site contractor will continue to have a piece of equipment onsite this week to assist with processing and generating more onsite backfill soil materials to support this activity.  
  • Continue with underground utilities & connections to the existing utilities adjacent to Gate C in the Dartmouth Rd - Colgate Rd intersection.  The site contractor has coordinated these connections with Marblehead's Department of Public Works.  
  • Light gauge metal framing & sheathing activites on the exterior of the building shall continue on the West, East, North & South elevations of Areas A, B & C on the building.  The project will continue to receive deliveries of framing & sheathing materials to support this activity.
  • Building waterproofing activities shall continue on the West, South & East elevations of Area A working North along these elevations. 
  • The installation of the roofing insulation and membrane materials shall continue on the Roof Level of Area C of the roof.
  • Lay-out, coring and installation of mechanical risers shall continue on the interior second level of Areas A & B.
  • Lay-out & installation pipe supports and hangers for mechanical rough-in shall continue on the interior second level of Areas A & B.   
  • The masonry contractor will continue working on the West, South & East elevations of Area A of the building.  The erection of staging will continue this week to support the installation of brick veneer.  This contractor will continue to receive the delivery of brick materials over the next three to four weeks; approx three deliveries of materials per week.   
  • UPDATE the week of 11/16 the temporary lighting within the new building shall be installed and energized to support a safe working enviroment for future activities & trade contractors.  Note it is a State mandate that the temporary lighting remains energized at all times; including nights and weekends. 

Extended Work Day - Monday 11/9/20

The project has its final concrete slab on grade placement scheduled for Monday 11/9.  The project has coordinated and reduced these placements sizes with the concrete contractor to help decrease the duration of these work activities.  It is very typical in the industry that concrete slab on deck and concrete on grade placements require extended work hours to properly complete the work activity. 

Below is the tentative schedule for the concrete placement.  Note the below periods of time are tentative and subject to change based on concrete service, weather and other potential unforeseen issues.

 

6:00AM - Manpower, Equipment and Lights will Mobilize and be Energized Onsite

 

6:30AM – Concrete Pump Truck Mobilizes Onsite

 

7:00AM – 12:30PM – Place & Pump Concrete to Slab on Grade Locations

  • Approximately (25-30) Concrete Trucks will be accessing the project site to support this concrete placement

 

12:30PM – 4:00PM – Commence Concrete Finishing Activities.

  • Gas powered finishing equipment will be utilized during this period.

 

4:00PM – 5:00PM – Third Party Quality Control – Flatness Testing

  • Temporary light towers will be required to safely light the work area during this time period

 


5:00PM – 6:00PM – Saw Cut Control Joints in Slab on Grade

  • Gas powered saw equipment will be utilized during this period.
  • Temporary light towers will be required to safely light the work area during this time period

 

6:00PM - 7:00PM - Cover the Concrete Slab with Curing Paper

  • Temporary light towers will be required to safely light the work area during this time period

 

7:00PM – 9:00PM – Contingency Period for Potential Delays - Concrete Service, Weather Effecting Cure Times, Etc.

  • The site contractor shall delivery a load of loam material and re-establish the temporary fence along the West elevation of the project site adjacent to the Tower School residential properties.  This activity was rescheduled to this week due to the weather last week.
  • The masonry contractor will continue working on the West elevation of Area A of the building.  This contractor will continue to receive the delivery of brick materials over the next three to four weeks; approx three deliveries of materials per week.
